Introduction
Thank you for using Noise Monitor ("we," "our," or "the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy
and ensuring you understand how your information is handled. This Privacy Policy explains our practices
regarding data collection, use, and protection.
Privacy First: Noise Monitor is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect,
store, or transmit any personally identifiable information or audio recordings to our servers or any third parties.

- Location Data: We do not access or collect your geographic location
- Usage Analytics: We do not track how you use the app or send analytics data to external servers
- Device Information: We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or hardware information
Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Noise Monitor stores the following information only on your device:
1. Measurement Data
- Decibel readings from your measurement sessions
- Session timestamps (start and end times)
- Calculated statistics (Leq, TWA, noise dose, peak levels)
- Measurement session notes or labels (if you add them)
2. App Settings
- Calibration offset values for your device
- Preferred weighting type (A, C, or Z)
- Selected safety standard (OSHA, NIOSH, or EU)
- App preferences and customization options
3. Temporary Audio Processing
- A temporary audio file is created during measurement sessions for metering purposes only
- This file is stored in your device's documents directory and contains no intelligible audio content
- The file is automatically deleted when you stop measuring or close the app
- This file never leaves your device
Important: All data remains on your device and is protected by your device's security features,
including encryption when your device is locked.
Microphone Access
Noise Monitor requires access to your device's microphone to measure sound levels. Here's how we use this permission:
- The microphone is accessed only when you actively start a measurement session
- Audio input is processed in real-time to calculate decibel levels
- No audio content is recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere
- You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device Settings
- The app will request permission before first use and will not function without it
Data Storage and Security
All measurement data and settings are stored locally on your device using:
- SwiftData: Apple's secure, on-device data persistence framework
- UserDefaults: For app preferences and calibration settings
- Local File System: For temporary audio processing files (automatically deleted)
Your data is protected by:
- iOS/iPadOS device encryption when your device is locked
- Your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID
- iOS security sandbox that prevents other apps from accessing Noise Monitor's data
Data Sharing and Third Parties
Noise Monitor does NOT:
- Share any data with third parties
- Use third-party analytics services
- Include third-party advertising networks
- Transmit data to our servers (we don't have any servers collecting your data)
- Sell or rent your information to anyone
iCloud and Device Backups
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your Noise Monitor data may be included in your device backups:
- Measurement history and sessions may be backed up to your personal iCloud account
- App settings and calibration data may be backed up
- Backups are encrypted and accessible only to you with your Apple ID
- We have no access to your iCloud backups
- You can manage backup settings in your device Settings under iCloud
Data Export
Noise Monitor may offer features to export your measurement data:
- Exports are initiated only by you
- Exported files remain under your control
- We do not receive copies of exported data
Children's Privacy
Noise Monitor does not knowingly collect any information from anyone. The app is suitable for users of all ages
because it operates entirely on-device without any data collection or transmission.
